Phase 2 of the Coastal Wetland Restoration Project with University of Queensland and KKPAC is underway. An initial site assessment on Cooloothin Creek Nature Refuge has been undertaken and grant funding is being sought through QCoast2100 Round 3. The Living Foreshores Noosa project continues to progress, with works at Hilton Esplanade scheduled to recommence in Q1 FY25/26.

Q1 · Minor Disruption
Living Foreshores Noosaville (linked to Noosaville Foreshore Infrastructure Masterplan) has major timeline disruptions due to significant community feedback in Round 2. A third round of community engagement has been added to the program, extending the timeline to early 2025 for endorsement of the Master Plan. The Concept Designs for Resilience component has been completed. Living Foreshores Hilton Esplanade has minor timeline disruptions due to significant increase in consultancy market rates that are being worked through with QCoast. Coastal Wetland Restoration Project Phase 1 (Blue Carbon) complete with final report received in June 2024. Phase 2 is progressing with UQ and Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation partnership. Noosa Offshore Sand Supply Assessment which investigates potential viability of offshore sources of sand for future nourishment of Eastern Beaches, is complete.
