1.3.3 Identify high-risk erosion prone areas of the Climate Change Adaption Plan (CHAP) and scope an ongoing management program.

High-risk areas have been identified in the CHAP and are being worked through the High-Risk Erosion Prone Area Working Group led by Infrastructure Services. Design, and construction funding has been obtained through QRRRFWork for Sunshine Beach - Ross Crescent - Slope Stabilisation Construction. Burgess Creek Monitoring Project with UniSC is complete.

High-risk areas identified in the CHAP and are being worked through the High-Risk Erosion Prone Area Working Group and a draft Noosa Eastern beach creeks erosion risk report has prepared and is currently being reviewed.

Progress through the High-Risk Erosion Prone Area Working Group has stalled due to staff changes and limited delivery of CHAP actions. A Noosa Eastern beach creeks erosion risk report has been delivered by consultants and is currently under review.

Progress through the High-Risk Erosion Prone Area Working Group has stalled due to staff vacancy and changes. A Noosa Eastern Beaches Creek Erosion Risk study has been delivered by consultants, covering geotechnical, hydrological & vegetation assessments at the nine creeks along the Eastern Beaches. Assessments were used to identify slope stability risks as well as urgent, short, medium and long term actions to reduce these risks. Actions vary from urgent remediation works through to longer term revegetation and weed control.
4.8.4 Continue the implementation of the Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan (CHAP), including planning for Living Foreshores Noosa, Coastal Wetland Restoration Project.

Living Foreshores Noosaville (linked to Noosaville Foreshore Infrastructure Masterplan) has major timeline disruptions due to significant community feedback in Round 2. A third round of community engagement has been added to the program, extending the timeline to early 2025 for endorsement of the Master Plan. The Concept Designs for Resilience component has been completed. Living Foreshores Hilton Esplanade has minor timeline disruptions due to significant increase in consultancy market rates that are being worked through with QCoast. Coastal Wetland Restoration Project Phase 1 (Blue Carbon) complete with final report received in June 2024. Phase 2 is progressing with UQ and Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation partnership. Noosa Offshore Sand Supply Assessment which investigates potential viability of offshore sources of sand for future nourishment of Eastern Beaches, is complete.

An initial site assessment on Cooloothin Cr Nature Refuge has been undertaken and grant funding is being sought through QCoast2100 Round 3. Living Foreshores Noosa continues to advance with Hilton Esplanade due to restart this quarter.

Phase 2 of the Coastal Wetland Restoration Project with University of Queensland and KKPAC is underway. An initial site assessment on Cooloothin Creek Nature Refuge has been undertaken and grant funding is being sought through QCoast2100 Round 3. The Living Foreshores Noosa project continues to progress, with works at Hilton Esplanade scheduled to recommence in Q1 FY25/26.

The team continues to seek funding opportunities to undertake Phase 2 of the Coastal Wetland Restoration Project. Discussions with DETSI are ongoing to undertake erosion-prone area mapping to inform a future planning scheme amendment.
