Continue to improve strategic and corporate climate risk management, as well as through investigation of annual carbon accounting and new standards for ESG and climate-related reporting.

Key actions to improve the Corporate Climate Risk Management Framework have been identified, and the first voluntary ESG Report has been drafted for consideration of inclusion in Council’s Annual Report. Draft sustainability disclosure completed and deferred to next Annual Report. Due to data collection requirements, limited resourcing, and competing priorities, a 24/25 and 25/26 Financial Year Carbon Report will be prepared by the end of 2026.

Continue implementation of the Regional Climate Action Roadmap in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council including through the trialling of community resilience building workshops and the Climate-wise Communities program.

Critical Infrastructure Failure and Cascading Climate Risk (CIF) Project has been completed with reporting and knowledge-sharing with other Councils, Local Disaster management Group (LDMG) and state agencies ongoing. CIF project reported to Council February 2026. Priority action to investigate resilience measures at the local disaster coordination centre on hold pending future budget considerations and potential grant funding. The Adaptation Game has been developed with Sunshine Coast Regional Council to support community resilience building. The launch of the Climate Wise Communities program anticipated by end Jun 2026.

Continue to partner with other SEQ councils through the Southeast Queensland Climate Resilience Alliance, including implementation of the Scope 3 Emissions Project and the Regional Resilience Capacity Building Project.

Scope 3 project continues through the Southeast Queensland Climate Resilience Alliance (SECRA), and outcomes will assist in Carbon Reporting on Scope 3 for FY24/25 and FY25/26. Staff education workshops and webinars made available to the organisation from January - June 2026.

Advance the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Regional Climate Action Roadmap by delivering the Regional Cascading Risks and Critical Infrastructure Failure Project with Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

Project has completed all stages and final reports have been received. QRA grant has been acquitted. Final Executive Steering Group meeting was postponed to August 2025 to align with Executive team availability. Report to ET and Council anticipated for for September 2025.

Launch the Climate Wise Communities Program in partnership with Disaster Management.

Delivery of the Climate Wise Communities website has experienced technical challenges. Staff continue with the contractor to resolve these issues with launch expected later in 2024. Noosa’s Local Resilience Action Plan (LRAP) continues to be developed in consultation with QRA with delivery by the end of 2024. Finalisation of this plan will inform future funding opportunities.
