The Noosa Aged Care Disaster Resilience Forum was successfully delivered on 3 February 2026 in partnership with Country to Coast PHN, with 60 representatives attending from local aged care facilities and regional management. The forum achieved strong engagement and resulted in positive resilience-building outcomes across the sector. In recognition of our programs’ ongoing effectiveness, Get Ready Queensland has requested that Noosa Council’s Get Ready Schools and Aged Care engagement programs be nominated for the 2026 Resilience Australia Awards (RAA). The Logistics Sub Plan and Financial Sub Plan were reviewed, updated, and formally endorsed by the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG). Progress continues against the TC Alfred Actions Register, with 74 of 96 identified actions completed to date. Planning has commenced for the LDMG, LDCC, and Recovery exercises, and an Exercise Committee has been established to oversee development and delivery.

The Get Ready Noosa event, coordinated by Council and delivered in partnership with local emergency services, was held on 11 October and saw more than 1,500 preparedness packs distributed to residents. The team also participated in the highly successful Sunshine Coast Disaster Expo on 19 October. This was followed by delivery of the largest Get Ready Schools program to date, with the team engaging more than 2,500 students between mid-October and early December as part of broader disaster resilience activities, again in collaboration with local emergency services. Simtable sessions and aged care engagement activities were undertaken throughout October and November. In December, the disaster resilience vehicle joined the Noosa Christmas Convoy, distributing Get Ready Noosa emergency information packs as part of Council’s community outreach. The Local Disaster Management Plan was reviewed, reformatted to improve community accessibility, and endorsed by the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG). Community sub-groups continue to strengthen, with the Kin Kin Community Disaster Management Plan endorsed by the LDMG in September. Organisational training and preparedness activities also included participation in exercises with DTMR and Seqwater.

Numerous community preparedness activities conducted, including the Noosa Show (12 and 13 September) with 650 engagements and distribution of 350 readiness packs. Noosa Aged care engagements with Palm Lakes Cooroy, Riverlands, Noosa Waters Retirement Estate and Noosa Seniors Connect programs. Community resilience activities took place in partnership with emergency services agencies at Stratford Park, Kin Kin, Pomona and Boreen Point. Get Ready Schools bookings in preparation for October - mid December to 2,500 local schools and home/flexi school visit. Successful Sim table engagements took place through July and September collaborating with Environmental Operations staff.
